A report says India has lowest 4G speed at global level

According to a recent report by Open Signal, it was said that Navi Mumbai has the faster internet connection speed in Mumbai. In the report, it was mentioned that Open Signal has tracked the average 4G download speed in India’s 20 largest cities during December 2017 to February 2018.

Hence, as a result, it was found that the Navi Mumbai has the highest internet speed in India. The average 4G Speed recorded in Mumbai was the 8.72Mbps. Following to the list, Chennai is the second name which has the highest internet speed in India. The city has an 8.52Mbps, however, a year back the average internet speed in the city was 4.4Mbps. This means the internet speed has doubled in a year.

Talking about the last city on the list of OpenSignal’s report. Well, it is the Allahabad, this city has a 4G download speed of less than 4Mbps. According to the report, the average 4G download speed in Allahabad is 3.5Mbps. Even it is the only city that has an average download speed of less than 4Mbps.

Also if we talk about the top 10 cities among all of the 20 cities. There are six cities that belong to the southern or western regions of India. However, at the third position, we have the Kolkata with a download speed of 8.46Mbps. At the 4th there is Bengaluru who have gained an average 4G download speed of 7.17Mbps.

At the end of the list there is Allahabad which has the slowest 4G speed in the country with an average download speed of 3.5 Mbps. Even it is the only city which has less than 4Mbps of 4G mobile speed.

The report also added that “LTE availability in India is remarkable: users were able to connect to an LTE signal over 86% of the time, a rise of some 10 percentage points from a year earlier.”

However, apart from revealing the 4G download speed of India, the report also mentioned that India has the lowest 4G speed in the world.

According to the report, India ranks at the 14th position in the 4G availability chart with 86.26 percent availability. Although this is a good sign. But the average internet speed in the country put India at the bottom of the list.

The report says that India has an average 4G speed of just 6.07 Mbps. Hence as a result country like Algeria with 8.65 Mbps 4G download speed, Indonesia with 8.92 Mbps 4G download speed Philippines with 9.49 Mbps download speed, and the Thailand with 9.60 Mbps 4G download speed pushed India down to the chart.

The report also mentioned that the Singapore has the fastest 4G speed in the world with an average of with 44.31Mbps.

Also, there are lots of companies which are focusing ahead to bring 5G wireless services to the market by the end of the year. 5G wireless services are said to be used for self-driving cars, lightning-fast video downloads and so on. Also, Barcelona is going to be the first country to taste the speed of 5G. Then later the 5G network will be rolled out to countries like the United States, Korea and Japan, and a few years.

However, it is still unclear when India will get to see the 5G network. However, after the report of Open Signal, it is expected that there are few telecom companies in India will be focusing ahead to make the 4G download speed better. Also, there are three telecoms which are going to come under a partnership to achieve this mission. So let’s just wait and see what the future holds for the Indian users.
